Copenhagen, revisited

DSC_0137 Good morning, Copenhagen!

Copenhagen was a good, short respite.

I rented an Airbnb house with a few friends. Although we went because we all do Crossfit together, and the European regional competition was taking place, we only spent a short time at the arena. We used the rest of our time there to explore the city.

Every day, we stopped at Toverehallerne, a huge market with all different kinds of food vendors. We whipped up some great dinners from our daily market finds.

One of my “surprise” favorites was Assistens Kirkegard – a cemetery in the Norrebro district we stayed in. Apparently, in Denmark, cemeteries are like gardens and big parks where people picnic. It felt like a different world walking through the maze of flowers, trees and gravestones.

My favorite street was Værnedamsvej, in the trendy Vesterbro district. This quaint little street had a chocolate store, a bakery, a couple of design boutiques, and flower stalls. It was the closest we came to feeling like locals!

And, of course, being surrounded by the canals and waterways was magical!
