I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the new moon, the beginning of February (ok, that might be a stretch), and the start of Lent all fall around the same time.
Let’s start with the moon.
The new moon is typically a time to set an intention or goal. It symbolizes new beginnings and starting fresh.
Even if you don’t practice witchcraft, what’s not to like about that idea?
We can set some new goals–tonight!
Moving on to Catholicism…Lent starts this week on Ash Wednesday.
It’s another great opportunity to do some self reflection, set an intention, and prepare yourself for Easter.
Although it’s usually thought of as a time to give something up, the word Lent comes from a word that means Spring–when the days are getting longer and new life is all around us.
Finally, February.
Yes, it’s a pretty depressing month: cold, grey, rainy, and dreary. But what about Valentine’s day?! Spreading hearts and chocolate and winking at unsuspecting fellow commuters–there could be worse things!
It’s also a great time to get away. I took a trip to Portugal last year to get sun and beach and this week I’m going to Mallorca.
Whether you’re a Wiccan, a Catholic, or if you’re addicted to love, February does not disappoint.
