When my relocation agent showed me my new apartment for the first time, he mentioned that the park at the end of the block, Friedberger Platz, is where people meet up on Friday evenings for wine.
What started out as an impromptu gathering spot has turned into a market where vendors now come with their trucks, and friends come with their blankets to relax on a little spot of green at the end of the week. I’m learning that Germans love their markets where they can enjoy good wine and good company.
In chatting with my co-worker, we realized we live close to each other and decided to meet up at the park on Friday night. It rained most of the day on Friday, but by evening, the sun was out, the sky was blue, and I was loving my bratwurst and Riesling.
New friends, new experiences, and a little spot of comfort right in the middle of a busy city.
