Ok, friends. You were right. Serial changed my life.
For those of you who haven’t heard of Serial (and I think 85% of people who read this blog told me to listen to it), it’s a podcast about a murder case in Baltimore that was based on circumstantial evidence.
The story was told over weekly installments. It’s over now, but you can still download and listen to past episodes, and you will get addicted.
But Serial didn’t just change my life because it was a great story. It introduced me to the world of podcasts.
I guess I missed the boat, but I always listened to podcasts on my computer.
You know that podcast app you deleted from your iPhone because it was taking up room and you didn’t know where to file it? Well, reinstall it and start browsing the glorious world of podcasts!
There are a few reasons why I can’t get enough of podcasts.
1. When I leave my house, I immediately put my earphones in and listen to music. With all the walking, biking, train riding, alone time in my life, podcasts are a great distraction.
2. You can listen to any subject you want. Anything. There is a podcast for every interest.
3. You can learn new things. I can’t tell you how many new stories I’ve listened to or things I’ve learned in the last couple of weeks.I even found learning German podcasts.
4. They are free!
I think this will even lead me into the world of audiobooks eventually. And watch out then.
If you haven’t explored all the podcasts that are out there, I highly recommend doing so, especially if you have a long commute or spend hours by yourself at home.
