Over the last few days, I’ve had some interactions with people who have given me advice or commented about what I should be doing in various situations.
In some of these interactions, this advice has come from so-called experts, or people whose opinions I sought out. Some was unsolicited. Some was unimportant. Some was obvious.
All of the interactions got me thinking.
How do I want to live my life right now? Do I want to do something just because someone says it’s the right thing and something I should be doing? Or do I want to fill my limited time with activities and people that uplift me, energize me, help me to attain the balance I strive for? (hint: it’s the latter)
I realize this is a bit of an ambiguous rant, but it’s something that has been on my mind since yesterday.
I guess my point is, even if you seek advice from someone, it’s ok not to take it. It’s ok not to please everyone. And it’s ok to spend your time on things you want to do–not what someone else wants for you.
Do the things you enjoy. The rest will work itself out.
You didn’t ask me for advice, but had you, I would have advised to take advice discriminately.
I appreciate that.
I excitedly await your wise words each day!
And what your mom said!
