Eier

It’s been a few days…let me explain.

I’ve been trying out turning off my computer and phone at least an hour before bed to see if I sleep better. The results have been amazing. I’m having the most restful, uninterrupted sleep I’ve ever had. I’m waking up before my alarm clock, feeling rested and ready to tackle the day. Needless to say, I need to find another time to blog. Or maybe I’ll just start writing in a journal and mailing it out.

Now then. Eier. Eier means eggs. A lot has been going on with eggs this week.

A new sign popped up on my way to work about an Ostereier market. Ost means East. So, I assumed there’s a new market in the East that has eggs. Of course I was super pumped because I love markets. Well, maybe you’re smarter than me and already figured it out…Ostereier means Easter egg. Big duh of the week.

Egg story #2.

There’s a market on Fridays near my house that I never really go to. Well, I decided to go yesterday and was super excited that it had chicken and eggs. You know the drill…of course I took a card, made sure the stand had pictures of chickens in the countryside, and felt comfortable I was getting good poultry products.

I was thrilled to notice this on the egg carton this morning.

It’s basically a guide to the stamp that’s on each egg:

After a little Googling, texting with friends and some common sense, I figured out that my eggs were free range eggs from Germany. I know, not exactly a brain buster, but this little stamp really had me pumped.

And, you really can tell a difference in the yolk color vs. store-bought eggs–even eggs from the natural grocery store.

Goal for next post: try to prove that I really do have a life…
