I had a spirit weekend. I decided to step outside of my comfort zone and do some new things. I realize my whole life right now is outside my comfort zone, but on the weekends when I’m in town, I usually stick to the same routine.
I went out with different friends and met new people on Friday night. And I decided to join a MeetUp group for hiking in Eberbach today. 25 people had signed up for the hike and I thought it would be fun.
Unfortunately, the Deutsche Bahn had different plans. My train was delayed and I missed my connection, subsequently missing the start of the hike with the group.
The group leader posted something like, “Sorry, we can’t wait for you, but if you just follow the yellow x, you’ll find us.”
I wonder if she realized there’s not like a yellow x in your face when you step off the train (this is also the same lady who posted multiple times how she would be stopping for cake after the hike).
It didn’t matter that I missed the group. I still enjoyed solo time in Eberbach.
I didn’t realize what a cute town it would be. The weather was gorgeous and the train followed the Neckar river with stunning views of the hills and towns dotting them.
I did a circle of the town in 20 minutes or so, then decided to try to find the trailhead.
I can’t believe I actually found it. I chuckled when I did. I did some Googling and used my internal compass and really just headed in the direction of hills.
I’m sorry I didn’t get to meet more new people, but I know how to have a good time solo too, and I loved my hike!
