(doesn’t it look much more spooky in black and white?…playing around with some of the effects of my new camera)
‘Allo! I’m back in London this week (yay!). This time I’m staying in the Hammersmith area, and while it’s clear the hotel and meeting facility were chosen for their budget-friendliness, I plan on taking advantage of exploring the west side of town after my meetings (I keep singing West End Girl in my head…not sure if that’s a good thing).
On my way to the local Whole Foods to stock up on protein bars, I saw this gorgeous cemetery.
It feels weird to say a cemetery is gorgeous, but the old gravestones, the light of the sun setting, and the green trees in bloom really made it feel like a special place.
I looked at a few of the tombstones and the dates were around the turn of the century. Turns out the cemetery opened in 1840 and is still a working cemetery. It’s one of the Magnificent Cemeteries of London, home to over 200,000 graves.
