Rhubarb tart at L’Atelier des Tartes
I had plans to meet up with a couple of friends today, which is unusual during the day on a Saturday; I’m usually biking all over in a rush to get all my errands done before stores close.
Today, I enjoyed catching up, shopping, and discovering new places in Frankfurt. Although it was a packed day, it was a welcome respite to the weekend routine.
I started with breakfast at Naiv. Such a cute cafe near the river.
Then my friend took me around an area that is self-proclaimed the Neustadt Frankfurt (new city).
I was blown away by the designer concept stores. It felt way more Berlin or Brooklyn than Frankfurt. The stores even had free maps of the area with all the stores marked – just like what I’ve found in the up-and-coming hipster parts of all the cities I’ve visited.
The maps boast: “Entdecke die etwas andere stadtmitte” – discover something slightly different in the middle of the city.
The highlights:
Afterward, I biked back to Sachsenhausen, to my favorite little market, Markt im Hof, which is described as “A touch of London”. How could you not love it?
I finished my afternoon at L’Atelier des Tartes, meeting another friend for leisurely tarts and tea.
This came very close to a spiritsunday. I think I can get used to spiritsaturdays…
