I got up early this morning to go on a little run because I knew I’d be late at work tonight. Yes, I would have rather slept longer, and yes, I would have rather had necessary social interaction time at the gym, but it’s amazing how sometimes things you don’t want to do actually turn out to be just what you need.
I put on my shoes and ran.
I ran through the park that surrounds the inner city (Innenstadt) of Frankfurt. If you look at a map of Frankfurt, you can see this park separating the inner city from the rest of the city. I’ve heard it was built in ancient Roman times as a way to safeguard the city. Unfortunately, when I Google this, I am now directed to Google Germany, so all my results are in German. So I’ll just have to believe everything I hear from now on.
It’s a really pretty park. There are sculptures, fountains, graffiti, playgrounds. As I ran, I saw countless bunnies hopping around! As if the bunnies weren’t enough, I somehow stumbled upon the cobblestoned Opernplatz, and found myself staring up at the Old Opera (Alte Oper) house. This is one of the most awe-inspiring buildings in Frankfurt, and I was all alone with it.
I breathed in the crisp, chilly early morning Spring air. This morning it was just me, the bunnies, and the Old Opera house.
Love the blog. Sorry I haven’t visited in the last week or so. The photos and antics are awesome. Good luck with the apartment. Bunnies are Big John’s totem animal. Just sayin …..
XOXO
