Last night was the last night of my salsa class. And I can’t and I can believe 4 weeks have gone by so fast.
I haven’t had a small victories post in a while.
Last night was a small victory.
I walked into class four weeks ago nervous, with two left feet, uptight and unsure.
Ok, so I’m still a little uptight (as the teacher had to tell me every time “Relax!”…although last night she told me to relax and to tighten my grip at the same time and then I realized she was confusing the two words so I’m still not sure if I should relax or not)
But I feel so much more confident on the dance floor!
Stepping outside of my comfort zone, laughing at myself, letting the stress from the day fall away, and just moving to the music.
Things that seems so simple, but that we rarely do.
I learned right turns, left turns, turning my partner, and it felt so good to just dance the night away every Monday.
I thought of you, mom and dad, and how I always loved watching you dance at parties or weddings.
So while my classes are over, I’ve made a commitment to keep it up. There are salsa parties every weekend and even (gasp) a level 2 class.
And let’s face it, the week is so much more enjoyable when it involves dancing.
sweet of you to mention your parents.
I never fully shook off two left feet, so I never looked down. what you don’t know keeps you from tripping!
what’s next – tango?
You re-inspired us. (Is that redundant?) Tonight while watching The Hundred-Foot Journey, we got up and danced twice!! Now we are going to put on our dance lesson video and practice for the Columbia High 100th reunion for end of August. Sure will beat the hot summer doldrums.
