We arrived in Dubrovnik yesterday. Our apartment is about a 45 minute walk from the old city, and we made the walk in the 90 degree heat to see what all the fuss was about.
The walk was gorgeous. We passed by really pretty old houses, and the view from the cliffs was stunning.
Unfortunately, when we got to the city, we were struck with the heat that had been trapped in the city walls and the throngs of tourists swarming everywhere. It was so hot and crowded and not exactly the Game of Thrones we imagined. I took one picture then vowed not to take any more.
From the overwhelming amount of touristy shops and restaurants, I knew our week would be filled with researching where the locals go to eat. I only hoped we could figure it out by the last night!
Luckily, we found solace back in Lapad where we were staying. We discovered our very own rock on the Adriatic and looked forward to hours of endless sunning on it (although we also had our eye on the newly opened Hotel Kompass pool).
