Two people asked me for directions today.
And I directed them.
When things like that happen, it always makes me think of how far I’ve come. How I used to not know my way. How I couldn’t interact with people (granted my giving directions just involves pointing, but still).
I went to the market early today and was about to leave when I decided to stop at one more stand and pick up some tomatoes.
A little back story: last fall, I found one spaghetti squash.
One.
I went back to the farmer last week and asked if he would have any more.
“We haven’t found any.”
I look for spaghetti squash every time I go in a grocery store. And it’s not like I even ate that much spaghetti squash anyway! You always want what you can’t have…
So, I stopped at one last stand to get tomatoes.
And then I spotted them: a pile of spaghetti squash.
I’m pretty sure I screamed.
“Are those spaghetti squash?!?!?!?!”
I frightened the poor girl.
She told me they will have them every week.
I cannot wait to post about all my spaghetti squash concoctions.
After the market, I went to my new favorite (and recently discovered) grocery store. It’s in the basement of a department store and I had heard rumors about it before, but never believed there would actually be a grocery store in the basement of a department store.
They have peanut butter, ground turkey, terra chips, Pam, Crisco, and Old El Paso.
My new friend (and yoga teacher), Jess, told me another urban legend: that they have canned pumpkin.
Like good almond butter, and until recently, spaghetti squash, canned pumpkin is nowhere to be found in this town.
Until today.
I don’t know what I’m going to do with my canned pumpkin and spaghetti squash. But just having them makes me happy.
Can’t wait to explore in the kitchen! Recipes and final product to come…
This is lovely. Happy for you 🙂
You can make this! (which I’m going to try out this coming weekend in celebration of the arrival of October.) http://againstallgrain.com/2013/10/01/gluten-free-pumpkin-bread/
