major ramblings

Hello? It’s me.

I’ve been off the blogosphere for a few days. As usual, I’ve had a lot going on and a lot that I wanted to share.

But I’m practicing listening to myself and respecting my needs. And honestly, I haven’t wanted to get on the computer at the end of the day.

So. Where did we leave off?

My finger’s healing, but it still hurts a lot (especially when I hit it against something, which seems to be all the time).

We’ve had some snow showers the last few days; the temperature has dropped; I’m trying really hard not to eat all the oats and sweet potatoes I have on hand (depressing winter food).

But my happy light and midday walks are really helping.

I got together with a few different groups of friends this weekend–and wine, laughter and gossip is always good for the soul.

I went to see Lianne LaHavas at a venue here in Frankfurt on Monday. I love her R&B funk sound, plus she’s British…if you haven’t heard of her, check her out!

A few of us are having a “Thanksgiving” get together at my place on Saturday and I can’t wait to try out some more recipes.

The “community” part of my goals for November seems to be taking off.

I also emailed a handful of volunteer organizations this weekend…have heard nothing back.

I’ve found a couple of new podcasts I’m really digging. The Lively Show and The Paleo Women Podcast are two really great empowering, almost feminist podcasts. They’re all about listening to your body and cultivating happiness. Very uplifting to listen to on the train. So inspiring, in fact, that they talked me out of going to the gym tonight.

I was in London yesterday for a small video shoot. The highlight was when the makeup artist told me, “you have great skin.” I told her, “I eat a lot of greens.”

I’ve been baking, dehydrating and cooking up a storm lately. I’m turning anything and everything into chips!

On Sunday, I’m taking an all day Indian cooking class. Basically, I’m putting on an extra layer of warmth for the winter months.

And, that’s my life in a nutshell right now.

What are you doing to listen to what your body needs…truly listening, not ignoring, and then acting on it?

  • Heyo!! I was just thinking of you this morning and wondering if you would be hosting T-day in Germany… and then here was this post! Perfection 🙂

I’m cutting back on vino to start, and getting back to the gym for a new light weight-bearing class!

    Happy happy,
    K.
