Soon after I posted part 2 (and what I had assumed was the finale) of my Christmas cookie saga, I got a text from my adorable Italian neighbor upstairs. She just had her second child and I’ve really enjoyed getting to know her and her husband; they bring a great Italian spark to our little house community.
The text was to me and my other two neighbors: “Hallo! Are you home? I have done a good cake, perfect for tee or breakfast! I’ll leave it in front of the door if you are ok!”
When I read it and interpreted it, I thought she had just meant to text one of us, so I replied “Cake for all of us?”
Yes.
She left two “cinnamon buns” on all our doorsteps.
Turns out it was torta delle rose, and Italian dessert that is pretty much cinnamon buns.
Ok, I realize Christmas cookies: part 2 was all about enjoying food and company and no guilt…but people are literally leaving desserts on my doorstep!
Not sure if really enjoying company and eating with purpose counts when you are scarfing down “cinnamon buns” in your apartment alone at bedtime.
