Running on a couple hours of sleep, we stopped by Life for our daily freddo espresso and chit chat with the owner and barista. We decided we needed to get off the beach for one day and take in a bit of history, so we headed to the port and hopped on a boat for the short trip to the island of Delos.
Once again, the blue Aegean didn’t disappoint.
Delos is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and its history dates back to the 3rd millenium BC (I don’t even know how to translate that into numbers! it’s ancient!).
It’s considered the most sacred of all the islands in ancient Greece.
What was interesting to me is it was the birthplace of Greek god/goddess Apollo and Artemis. Interestingly, Artemis is the goddess of the moon – and we were visiting at the time of the full moon. Coincidence??
