Yesterday was a series of small victories in the office for me. I’ve been frustrated because I’ve had to store all my files flat. I can’t seem to find any way to hang files or stack them vertically. Also, I’ve been on a search for binder clips since I started here (cursing myself for leaving my stash in California).
This bothers me.
So, finally having a break from meetings yesterday, I took time to ask around and search the office supply book and cabinet (funny note: the same guy always comes in when I’m in the supply closet…I’m pretty sure he thinks I work for the supply company). After much searching, I found that hanging file cabinets do exist! I wheeled one across the floor to my desk and I was happy as a clam. We do not, however, stock hanging file folders, which I now need since the paper size here is slightly larger than 8.5×11 American paper size. So none of my files will hang, and all of my new papers stick out of my old files.
I know, I know, it could be worse…
To add to my excitement, I also found binder clips. You know, the paper clips that are large and black and clip large amounts of paper? Well, I found some in the supply closet. My stapler is the WORST and won’t staple more than 3 sheets of paper. I honestly didn’t think binder clips even existed here. When I took them back to my desk and showed my co-worker, she replied with, “those are so American.”
Now I’m just waiting for my hanging file folders and I’m betting they will arrive before my Internet. Kind of ironic I think.
I am so excited over these two things (plus a new tape dispenser). One thing I know is small, everyday things like these can bring so much joy.
For now, I’m ready to binder clip any report that comes my way!!
