In honor of Valentine’s Day, I put together my favorite messages of love and happiness that I’ve snapped over the last 3 years. It’s a reminder that love is always around us.
Helsinki, Finland – the menu at Sandro restaurant.
Prague, Czech Republic – the handwritten letter and Easter basket at Miss Sophie’s B&B.
Frankfurt, Germany – one of the first letters I tried to send internationally (returned!).
Dubrovnik, Croatia – a foretelling bathroom message.
Bachrach, Germany – a stopoff town I visited with dad – “Wine, wine is worth the gold – it relieves all pain. It often makes the stupid wise and makes evil hearts better.”
Kronberg, Germany – where dad and I stumbled upon the strawberry festival “With music, würst and wine, come and let’s be happy.”
Edinburgh, Scotland – inscription in a book I bought at a used bookstore.
Zürich, Switzerland – Frau Gerold’s Garden – a charming outdoor spot to eat and drink that I discovered when my friend An was visiting.
Edinburgh, Scotland – The best cake shop ever. Lovecrumbs.
Frankfurt, Germany – a sign describing an outdoor project to remember victims of the Holocaust.
The Algarve, Portugal – The sign over someone’s (Eduardo’s) home.
Paris, France – The Leon and Harper sign on Rue du Temple.
Shoreditch, London, UK – a great reminder.
And, of course, the Berlin wall.
Santa Monica, California, USA – another great reminder.
Paris, France – maybe not so uplifting…but at one time, this person too was in love.
Frankfurt, Germany – because what better way to show you love your city than making a giant sign that says so.
The wine country outside Mannheim, Germany – the first polterabend (night before the wedding party) I was invited to in Germany. Smashed plates and all.
Frankfurt, Germany – more great reminders.
Florence, Italy – because don’t we all just want to be free?
Copenhagen, Denmark – the happy wall where you could create your own messages of love and happiness.
Darmstadt, Germany – the train station graffiti that greets me every morning.
Lisbon, Portugal – “today I write on the wall for you.”
You touched my heart in many ways with your blog today.
Happy Valentine’s Day to my Scoo.
Love,
Dad
Happy Valentine’s Day, dad! Time for a strawberry festival soon.
I think I will read this and [heart] this over and over and over…
Print it out and make a real life love letter!
