Please don’t tell me July is almost over; I couldn’t believe it when June ended.
It’s that time of year when I feel that first pang of sadness that summer will inevitably come to an end.
It’s also when I realize how much I’ve done to maximize summer (one of my true talents) and that there’s so much more to go.
Aside from putting my heart and soul into work, I’ve been busy enjoying the best time of the year in Germany.
The weather in Hamburg has been, so I’m told, an anomaly.
For the most part, it’s been sunny, warm, blue-skied, and full of life and energy.
I can’t emphasize enough how much this is all anyone talks about. As Germans are weather-obsessed, this is the beginning of every conversation.
And so, I feel extremely blessed to be here this summer.
Here are a few highlights of summer so far:
A poke bowl tiki barge opened up right down the street from my office. It’s the perfect lunchtime oasis.
When I’m not at the tiki barge, I’m exploring the secret lunch spots along the canals.
I’ve had a few local trips – Berlin, Frankfurt, London – to catch up with old friends and take in a few shows.
Beyonce and Jay-Z at Olympic Stadium in Berlin: simply amazing.
All Points East Festival in London: a day of sun, drinks, and lots of great bands.
OMA in Berlin. The most delicious sourdough bread.
Seeing Hamilton in London was the highlight of my year so far. Such a captivating and energetic show.
The World Cup happened…and the public viewings outside were just perfect.
The 4th of July happened, and I hosted an American-themed picnic on the Alster (unfortunately we had baguettes and wine, but I promised Bud Lite and burgers next time).
I’ve been loving my little balcony. I did a makeover on it in Spring, and I love spending time on it.

Stay tuned for more from sunny Hamburg…
