One of the coolest things we did in Barcelona was tour La Sagrada Familia. This impressive basilica was designed by Spanish architect Antoni Gaudi when he was 31. The project started in the late 1800s and is expected to be done in the 2020s. While Gaudi’s style of modernism is polarizing, the church was truly breathtaking. It will be the tallest in the world when it is complete–a massive monument.
There is symbolism oozing from every piece of the building. Gaudi said he wanted every stone to form a syllable of collective prayer. What a beautiful way to describe this church.
