Back in Frankfurt and not wanting my vacation to end, I took full advantage of Spirit Sunday.
I woke up early to check out the English mass at church. I hadn’t been before because it’s on the other side of town and Sundays seem to be my only day of rest lately. I think I was recharged from the Spain trip; I decided to bike the 5K there in the rain (sometimes I surprise myself).
I had to go through an area of town I’m not familiar with; many wrong turns later, I finally made it. Wet, dirty, and late, I told myself Jesus wasn’t judging me.
It ended up being a celebration of the Indian, Pakistani and Sri Lankan members of the parish. So my attempt at attending mass how I’m used to didn’t happen. Still, it seems like a vibrant community, and it was nice to feel like a part of a group with a common interest.
Later in the afternoon, I was invited to go “bouldering” with some friends. This was at an indoor climbing arena a little bit past the neighborhood the church was in. I biked. In the rain. GPS in my pocket.
Bouldering! What a cool new experience, and what an upper body workout.
After climbing, we went to Jamy’s Burger, a relatively new grassfed burger place downtown. I’ve been missing out on good burgers and this place rivals any of the burgers from the US.
A little church time, a new activity, great friends and food. Exactly what spirit Sunday should be!
Five smile emoticons, of course, from me. (Smilies wouldn’t show up) hmmm…blog rules?
I tried to think of a clever name but burgers, bouldering, biking and church just didn’t work
LOVE!
