When I finished up work on Sunday, I had a couple of hours of free time before the event that night. I had made a very ambitious list of sights I wanted to see and had to narrow it down to only a couple of places.
Brandenburg Tor was only a few blocks away, so I speed walked over to check it out and snap a few pics. The sun was setting, the air was crisp, leaves were falling, and it was just perfect. I have to say, I’ve really gotten into European history lately, and this city is just overflowing with history. The fact that some of this city’s history took place during my lifetime makes it that much more interesting to me.
On my speed walk, I stumbled upon an old watchtower from the wall.
I had contemplated staying close to the hotel, but the bright U sign called to me. I checked my watch, checked the subway map, and, (overly) confident in my ability to maneuver German trains, I hopped on the U to the East Side Gallery. I just had to see it. And I’m so glad I did. Experiencing the graffiti on the wall as night fell was such a cool experience.
