“I can’t believe that!” said Alice.

“Can’t you?” the Queen said in a pitying tone. “Try again: draw a long breath, and shut your eyes.”

Alice laughed. “There’s no use trying,” she said: “one can’t believe impossible things.”

“I daresay you haven’t had much practice,” said the Queen. “When I was your age, I always did it for half-an-hour a day. Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.”

I came across this quote this morning on my way to work. It made me think of my friend Mara; she shares a love of great quotes and great literature.

Last night, my friend took me to the opening of the German Pop Art exhibit at the Schirn museum. Add pop art to that list of aforementioned things I love. It’s so quirky, out there, bold, and genius. You can’t help but say, what on earth were they thinking?

The quote and the pop art exhibit really go so well together.

We spend our days going through the motions, never stopping to question things or look at them in a different light. The German culture, especially, is focused on staying on a straight path and never veering off.

Sometimes I need reminders like these. Question things. Don’t accept that just because something has “always been done that way” means it’s the best way. Shake things up a bit. Have fun!

PS – The sun came out today! On the 7th day, there was light!
