London: the Gap and guacamole

The Christmas lights are already up on bustling Oxford Street!

My flight landed in London around 4pm and I almost cried when I got off the plane.

Signs were in English! People were speaking in English (and I gave evil looks to those Germans from my flight who were still speaking in German)!

It was pitch black here even though it was still afternoon. It was also drizzly. I know I should’ve known better, but I think I was fantasizing about a sunny and warm land of opportunity.

I got to my hotel, threw my bags down and planned out my route. My shopping route. I had a few hours before the stores closed and I wanted to make the most of it.

What beautiful sight did I see among the newly hung Christmas lights? The Gap, of course.

And guess what…the Gap was having a sale on their sweaters (but I guess you already knew that).

I walked out of that store 4 sweaters and a loungewear set richer.

I browsed through Banana Republic, but by the time I made it to J Crew, it was closed. I was a bit annoyed, but not dismayed. Now I know how to get there and will plot the fastest route for the future.

I wandered the streets and got lost in the alleys looking for a seafood restaurant I had found online. All the pubs were packed and Soho was really lively.

When I stumbled upon a Mexican place, I decided to settle there for dinner.

I sat there with my Gap bag, sipping my margarita and eating chips and guac, thinking, this is what London is all about!

When I left, I noticed the seafood place I’d been hunting was right across the street. I’m looking forward to another exciting night in my future with a J Crew bag and a plate of oysters.
